There are two giants digital technologies in this world.
One is Google is a search engine application while the other one is Facebook is a social media platform.
Some ministers see this as two places where online attention can be done.
And many ministers put them into the same bucket of “advert”.
But both these platforms have a very big difference.
And that’s what we are going to understand today.
Google is a search engine.
People search for things.
They are looking for a solution to their problem.
They are either looking for information, news, sermon topic, books, or your church online, even your name.
If I may ask can your name or your ministry be finding on Google search engine
Here when we make use of google digital technology, we are likely to be meet or our ministry.
Take for instance
It is like someone walking into a store and asking for something specific.
Since they are looking for us, and we are looking for them, the conversions are usually good.
Sometimes as much as 10% of the leads coming from Google can convert into customers.
Google doesn’t know who these people are as much as Facebook. But since they search for specific keywords.
The search term and the ad will match – because the keywords are showing purchase intent.
Same way with your ministry if the name of your ministry is search for on google, inasmuch is in google engine it will show the intend of the searcher
Whether a 25 year old boy is searching or a 65 year old grandma is searching, it wouldn’t matter.
I will give you two link you can use to register your ministry and the second for personal branding
One is google my business the purpose is whenever your ministry brand name is search for google search engine will find it, if you have not do that is free do it now this is the link
The second one is Aboutme whenever they look for you they will fin you online and what are capable of doing. This is the link .
If we promote what they are searching for, they will convert.
Don’t forget that the world is in the darkness and they are searching for the light.
However, Facebook tech is very different.
People do not login into Facebook to buy something or search for something.
They are there to check out what their friends and family.
So here we can advertise – but you cannot sell something directly i.e (books or audio sermon).
If a person is walking into a store and asking for something, selling is not a problem. They want to hear a sales pitch and they want to buy.
However, if the same person is hanging out in a restaurant with their friends and if you go and sell them something, then they will not be happy.
That’s why many people who try to promote their ministry or product such as book, sermon messages, etc on Facebook directly fail miserably.
They complain that Facebook doesn’t convert, That is what we will deal with tomorrow
Of course it will not convert, if you sell directly.
Facebook is a great place to get people interested in your ministry first, I learnt this through my experience after I created ministryexploit.com website I began to sent the link to facebook so that people could visit the page, but there is no convert to my website blog. I later created a page where I post the content on my blog the site designed for ministers to upload their audio sermon, articles and video to share on the website, you can read about the site here . After some months of sharing articles on facebook. I began to have people interest to my blog.
In summary you can build a relationship with them, and then you can convert them to your member later.
Reaching people on Facebook is cheap
However, Facebook is a great place to build a ministry and get known to people.
So Google vs. Facebook…
I prefer Facebook for ministry branding.
I prefer Google for being find when you are search for or your services being search for.
I hope this teaching helped you understand the difference between these two giant digital technology
One is inbound (Google)
One is outbound. (Facebook ).
